Devlog #2: Why Are Zombies So Depressing?

What a week, huh? But it's only the sixth week of the semester! And it's also only the SECOND biweekly update of your favorite upcoming game! We've got tons of fixes and new functionalities added, GREATLY increaseasing the overall quality of Zombielia, which gradually starts looking more like an *actual* videogame. Without further ado, let's get into it! The updates are:

  • Gameplay:
    • Enemies have a set amount of HP. I don't have to explain how HP works right? I'm not talking to an amoeba right?
    •  Collisions have been *greatly* improved. You will no longer be angry at your friend for accidentally kicking you out of the map.
    •  Enemies spawn infinitely and move towards the "windows". They still get stuck on the walls, so no real danger for now.
  • Visual:
    • Enemies visually react to getting hit. Ouch!
    • Enemies also have a cool HP bar, in case you hadn’t figured out you’re supposed to shoot them until they die.
  • Anything else:
    • Pause menu added! It pauses the game for everyone else, so be responsible.

For upcoming devlogs, we're still working on building the foundations needed to turn Zombielia from a functional video game into a functional AND fun video game. According to this laudable goal, our main objectives for the future coming are the design and implementation of:

  • Horde system
  • Money and upgrades
  • Enemies entering the area and the game having an actual lose condition
  • GRAFIKS and audio

And that's about it! We know that the game still doesn't look like much, but if you compare it with the last devlog, it's a night-and-day difference!

  • Maqui Studios, developers of "Zombielia".
